11月24日 Why I hate current affairs today.Current Affairs: Take an investigative approach to find a version of the truth that appeals to the narrow-minded, bigoted and uneducated class; mix with product promotion and cap the episode off with some a report on the latest celebrity diet. Don't forget to throw in some tits and arse! The formula is so blatantly obvious that a deaf, dumb and blind person could spot the repetition. Current Affairs want the big stories every night and if it means distorting the truth or just lying then so-be-it. I think I've expressed my hatred towards Current Affairs many times before but when I took witness to the ridiculous report on Lisa Milat, it pissed me right off. The report defined Current Affairs: Biased, cheating and vampiric. This interview was quite awhile ago and I guess I should of struck while the iron was hot but I've been both busy and lazy too (also writing blogs isn't important, just when I'm bored, which I am now). Anyway, Lisa Milat is in the LDP (Liberty and Democracy Party) running for senate. Sure, they're a bunch of extremist right-wing types and so far they've only raised $340 of $10,000 in campaign funds, but so what? That's hardly the point. They are a lawful party and are doing what they think is right in a democratic manor; so what more could you possibly ask? The main policies of the LDP are: Opportunist society, easing of gun laws, leagalising of euthanasia, voluntary voting, freedom to cut down trees and smoke where you please (basically they want to be Americans). From watching A Current Affair what did I learn about the LDP?: Lisa Milat is the sister-in-law to a mass-murderer and the LDP has a policy about easing gun-laws. Okay, Lisa Milat is a relation to Ivan Milat (through marriage); the guy responsible for the backpacker murders. Naturally, A Current Affair jumps on this like a murderer to their backpacker and responds to Milat's press release. Despite making it clear that she didn't want to discuss Ivan, the reporter's questions eventually led down that path. It's not that we don't have a right to know that she is married to a husband who happens to be the brother of Ivan Milat; but to base the entire report on that is just pathetic. I bet most people missed the fact that it was sister-in-law (I made that mistake). This just takes me back to the show Frontline, what shocks me is the relevancy of that show even after all these years. So what have we learnt about Current Affairs?:
And people are still watching this horse-shit. 评论 (2)
